Причины московской дороговизны состоят в высокой концентрации отелей классом 4-5 звезд при остром дефиците номерного фонда более низкой категории. В российской столице число номеров на жителей столицы примерно в 2,5-3 раза ниже средних западных показателей. Конечно, разумнее соотносить число номеров с туристическими и бизнес-потоками, которые потребляют данного рода услуги. Например, в северокорейской столице число номеров на жителей наверняка ниже среднемировых, однако дефицита гостиничных фондов в Пхеньяне не наблюдается. И все же как сравнительный показатель предложения на различных рынках подобное соотношение, конечно же, вполне применимо. Да и дефицит современных гостиниц среднего класса в столице — слишком явный. Причем ввод в эксплуатацию новых отелей замедлился, хотя именно резкое увеличение предложения способно приостановить темпы роста цен на услуги отелей. «Москва уверенно входит в десятку самых дорогих городов мира по стоимости гостиничных услуг. Но разительного изменения цены за прошлый год не произошло. Изменения в разных гостиничных сегментах составляет 6-10 процентов… Москва, к сожалению, остается не туристическим, а бизнес-городом, и гостиницы склонны изменять цены в зависимости от спроса со стороны бизнесменов.
